About

I’m a self-taught baker, blogger, and food experimenter.  I’m always looking for new twists on desserts, sweets, and snacks that bring together flavors, textures, and techniques from all around the world.

My goal is to inspire you to bake, try a new recipe, and have fun doing it.

I love bringing excitement to people’s faces through desserts. I believe a freshly baked cookie is better than a cookie packaged on a grocery market shelf.  Don’t get me wrong, I love almost all cookies, but if I can get my hands on a cookie still warm from the oven, I’m in heaven!

My Story

The first baking experience I remember growing up as a child was making holiday cookies with my mom and sister. I used to get frustrated because my cookies never looked as good as my sister’s cookies and thought to myself that baking wasn’t for me. Thank goodness that didn’t stop me!

I started to really enjoy baking when I was in school. My roommate and I had dessert parties, and I loved making and decorating cakes.  I played around with fondant, molding chocolate, boiled sugar, different kinds of frostings, sugar flowers, and just about anything I could think of. And the more people around to eat, the better!  I wanted to turn my ideas into something real and spent hours in the kitchen figuring out how to do it. When I graduated, my graduation gift to myself was a chocolate class at The French Pastry School in Chicago. We made marshmallows, financiers, macarons, and so much more. I was enthralled and in awe.

Since then, a lot of my baking creations were gobbled up by coworkers. I loved bringing people together to talk about ingredients and flavors, and they were happy taste testers.

In 2020, a couple of my best childhood friends and I formed our own online bake club, which we still continue to this day. We’re located in different cities and across three time zones.  We always have fun, and sometimes we just have to laugh when something goes wrong (my chocolate souffle deflated miserably!). Bake club taught me to lighten up about baking and not to take it too seriously.

In 2022, I was selected to compete in Season 1 of Silos Baking Competition. I baked one of my original recipes, a black sesame sandwich cookie with a creamy chocolate filling. It was a decadent and delightful cookie. The competition was fierce but what an awesome experience! The entire time, I was so nervous and happy that I couldn’t erase the smile that went ear to ear on my face. My mom and a few friends cheered me on in the audience, and I met other amazing bakers on the show.

I hope that through my recipes, you find joy in your kitchen and through sharing with others.
